Hello, I'm a novelist and teacher living in San
Francisco. My life here is busy and currently does
not allow me the time or space I need to finish my
book. I am looking to take two to four weeks off
from teaching to write, and a rural house-sit
would be the ideal situation in which to do this.
I love cats and dogs and I find that walking and
caring for them really balances sitting at a
computer most of the day. I also garden and can
care for plants, but have little experience with
larger animals such as horses. Having said this,
I'm willing to learn if someone is willing to
teach me.
I hold a Master's degree in Creative Writing from
the University of Oregon, and a BA in Anthropology
from Bard College, in New York State. I lived
abroad in Spain for several years, where I taught
English and art, which I currently teach in San
Francisco.
I have house-sat and pet-sat for several people in
the past and have excellent references. I am
generally a quiet person who spends the majority
of my free time writing and reading, though as I
said earlier, given my city schedule, this hasn't
been enough. I've lived in rural places in the
past (Upstate NY, Oregon, South of France) and am
convinced that solitude is what inspires me to
work. I tend to write from early in the morning to
mid-afternoon, then spend the rest of my time
hiking, sewing, writing letters, studying Spanish,
and doing household chores. Taking care of animals
and/or working in a garden would be a great
afternoon activity for me.
I am a non-smoker and a vegetarian. |
