I am looking for a non smoking single or coupled retired sitter/s for a lovely sunny 190 year old cottage that had been run as a "green" (toxic chemical and fragrance free B&B business in the summer and fall in the Green Mountain National Forest area of Vermont.There is no public transportation so having a car with front wheel drive and snow tires at least is crucial. No other pets are permitted here, as I have my own that do not relate well to others. I also do not allow animals into the guest and living areas of the house besides the kitchen. Maintained skiing and hiking trials abound! The cottage overlooks a large pond and the mountains.
The collage Town of Middlebury (25 minutes away)has allot of cultural activities, restaurants and a wonderful natural foods coop. I have one cat who goes in and out through his own door and I have 5 chickens.
This is low maintenance care on a small scale and made easy and convenient for house sitters. My new solar mini barn and chicken coop are mobile and I keep them right next to the house in the winter near the kitchen door, so there is not so much snow shoveling etc. You pay for the utilities you use only. I pay for local telephone, the cost for running my 2 freezers and broadband internet. utilities could run $150-350 a month depending on your use of the house. No use of toxic/perfumed chemical laundry detergents, fabric softeners or cleaners permitted. References are needed as well as a security deposit. I may be here from time to time, but you would have a whole private suite with full bath exclusively. The rest of the house would be shared if I am here for a brief time. During the fall/winter the only outdoor lawn maintenance is to shovel the area where you park for your car, a small path to the house and the clearing off of snow from the mini chicken houses. A love of animals is crucial and some basic carpentry/plumbing skills would be helpful if things come up and a handy person can not make it up immediately. It is important that you know how to operate a small wood stove or be willing to learn. This is a wild and beautiful location, but there are well maintained cross country ski trails surrounding my home. Downhill skiing is 15 minutes away. I am looking for one person or a couple with good references.
