Experienced and capable pack leader needed to manage two small dogs while owners travel. One of the dogs is an adolescent Jack Russell who is an absolute treasure but also very high energy at times. Its very easy to lose dogs in these parts so we need to know that the sitter is very capable with dogs. The key to keeping the dogs happy and at home is lots of exercise so you must be at least moderately fit, moderately interested in walking and able to walk easily on uneven dirt tracks, sometimes steep uneven dirt tracks. It is preferable but not essential that the sitter speaks some spanish as the dogs don't understand English.
The dogs come with a small and very basic house near the town of Vilcabamba in Southern Ecuador. Its a beautiful, tranquil riverside location with very basic services. The house is a traditional adobe and tile structure and the sitter will have access to two of the three rooms - kitchen and bedroom with ensuite bathroom. There is electricty, piped water, flush toilet and an instant electric shower. No TV and radio reception is poor.
You will be able to have access to internet if you bring your own computer but there is no phone signal at the house, however you can make phone calls a few minutes walk up the hill behind the house.
Ours is one of several family houses on adjacent blocks so there is help at hand if you need it. It takes an hour to walk to the town of Vilcabamba or 15 minutes in a taxi.
We would prefer that the house sitter comes a few weeks before our departure to get orientated and aquainted - we can provide indepenent accomodation in a nearby house for this period.
