We are a retired couple who live in Toowoomba, a city of people, 125 km west of Brisbane in Queensland.
We are hoping to go away for 2 – 3 weeks towards the end of July and into August and are looking for a house sitter for that period. The dates of this trip have not been finalised but will be round 30 July – 20 August.
Ours is a 3 bedroom house in a very quiet cul-de-sac with a garden which includes flowers, shrubs, vegetables, bonsai plants and many pots. We own an old, very gentle dog who, despite his age, still loves his afternoon walk in a nearby park. We have wifi access and our neighbours are friendly and very helpful.
So, the job would involve the house sitter in keeping the house clean and tidy, watering the garden and all associated pots and walking the dog on a daily basis.
August is a cool month in Toowoomba so the watering does not have to happen every day, in fact, the big garden beds will only need water every 5 – 6 days and the bonsai and other pots every 3 – 4 days.
This would leave our house sitter with plenty of free time to enjoy the beauty of Toowoomba which is widely known as a Garden City with all that that implies. It is a beautiful place and the neighbouring countryside is full of interest. Recreation available includes golf, tennis, movies, theatres, a wide range of churches, botanical gardens, walking trails, cycle paths, dancing etc., etc. It is a wonderful place to live and visit.
Brisbane is a 90 minute drive down a dual highway and offers much as well and a day trip to the ‘big smoke’ is an easy excursion.
