We are looking for someone to house/dog sit from Feb12 to March 14, 2017. We live in North Amherst Massachusetts. We are looking for someone who would enjoy living in a co-housing community (no community obligations) . We need someone reliable and responsible, who will give love and affection to our little dog. Primary responsibility is to look after our dog Daisy. Daisy is a 17 lb, part Havanese dog. She doesn't require much exercise although she loves a walk if her carer is so inclined. She tends to be shy at first, but will soon warm up and want lots of cuddles.
We also have houseplants that need watering and mail that needs sorting. If it snows, you would have to shovel the short front path. (the driveway is plowed) Our property is a singe family house in a cohousing community. It is wifi equipped. The property is located next to an organic farm with conservation/recreation across the street. We are located near UMass and are on the 5 college bus line. . There are many cultural/arts events available in the greater five college area.
The house is a lovely open space, energy efficient design with lots of natural light. It was originally a barn that has been redesigned by my husband who is an architect. There are two bedrooms with their own bathrooms and an upstairs studio space. The house is heated with a gas stove and air source heat pumps. There is a wood stove in the basement, which can act as back-up if the power goes out. There is a screened in back porch and lovely garden space. The house is three stories so there are stairs (upstairs for one bedroom, downstairs for the other). It is a smoke free house. Having a car would be useful -- there is free bus service but it takes quite a while to get into Amherst Center or the bigger shopping plazas. However, you can walk to North Amherst library, post office and grocery store. There is also a wonderful café. Living in a community means other community members are on site and very nice young children often cut through the back lawn area. (we like that a lot). There is a contact person within the community who is available for help or information.
