Hi, we live in shalimar, Florida minutes from Destin, which has been rated on of the best beaches in the U.S. We are going out of town for weeks in July (still firming up exact dates), and are looking for responsible animal lovers to come care for our house and pets, while enjoying the beautiful Emerald Coast of FL.
We have 3 sweet, well behaved dogs (2 large collie/shepherd/golden retriever mixes and one medium-sized black lab/terrier mix); an indoor cat, who is very sweet and loves everyone; and a Beta fish, which requires almost no maintenance (just sprinkle some food in his bowl).
We have a fully fenced yard, so the dogs just need to be fed and let out several times a day (and snuggled, or course). They love to go for walks, too, but it's not necessary. The cat needs to be fed and her litter box maintained. The dogs and cat all love attention and affection, so we are looking for someone who really loves animals.
Our house is an older mediterranean style home (1972), with a lot of character and a very comfortable feel. It is in a very nice, quiet, mature neighborhood of many retired military officers. The house backs onto the Shalimar Pointe Golf Course, and is across the street from the Choctawhatchee Bay.
There are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (one bed and bath are on the first floor, and has a flat screen TV), a family room with 50" TV (both TVs have basic channels, Netflix and Amazon Prime, but no cable channels), a formal sitting room, formal dining room, large Florida room with a pool table/ping pong table, and a beautiful little courtyard in the front that is perfect for sipping morning coffee. One of the bedrooms and baths is downstairs and has a flat screen TV. The other 3 bedrooms are upstairs (including master with private bath). We have a large pool that is perfect for cooling off in the hot Florida summer. It needs to have leaves skimmed off the top and the filter cleared daily, and chlorine added regularly.
We are a very quick drive to one of the most popular vacation destinations in the South. People are very friendly here, and the food is fantastic. The beaches are sugar-white, and there are always fun things to do.
