We live in a charming century-old town house in a desirable, tree-lined area of Windsor, Ontario
We are both artists and writers, (and former house sitters). Our renovated home has one bedroom and two office/studios as well as an infra red sauna, an enormous music collection, fireplace and high speed internet. We are half a block from the farmers market, open all year. Our place is centrally located close to downtown as well as: a vibrant, restaurant and bakery area called Little Italy on Eire Street; a number of other ethnic restaurants and grocery stores; and, we are only a two blocks from Willistead Park, with the original Hiram Walker mansion (now public access) and a ten acre, wrought iron-fenced park for pleasant dog/people walking. There is a small swimming pool 2 blocks away.
Downtown Windsor has a new world class swimming complex, an art gallery, casino complex and live stage theatre, movie houses and stylish restaurants. There is an array of fine wineries within a short distance in our county, miles of greenhouses and plenty of sandy beaches. Point Pelee national park is a short drive away.
Our home in Walkerville is within walking distance of pubs and restaurants. Galleries and museums are close by. The area is brimming with activities and events. There is a major university (UofW)and an excellent community college.
Detroit’s cultural and sports centres are only 10 minutes away through the tunnel. We often attend major concerts (inexpensive compared to Canada), or visit the Detroit Institute of Art, jazz clubs, major league sports games, Greek Town and the Detroit Symphony. Windsor is well positioned on a peninsula and is the most southerly point in Canada. The weather is mild, sunny and the location is excellent. It is one of the best kept secrets.
Our dog, Kali, is a seven year old, medium sized sled dog that gets long walks daily in nearby parks. She is quiet and affectionate. Her well being and loving care is paramount to us.
We are planning to go south from Dec 31 until the end of March this winter, but we could return in April if tha works better for you. We need someone gentle to take good care of our sweet dog. If we weren't flying we would take her with us.
We were active housesitters for two years, working primarily through this It was quite an exciting experience. Now we are on the other side of the table and understand the needs of both.
Please call if you are interested and we can send photos and chat.
