Hi,
We are Jean and Steve from York, England. We are married, non-smokers, pet lovers and enjoy travelling the world.
Steve spent his full working life as a qualified electrical engineer and later project manager and Jean worked in the travel industry and ran her own catering business.
Steve is very practical, turning his hand to most things - woodworking, repairs and anything electrical.
I enjoy gardening including growing vegetables, cooking and also learning new languages. I speak fluent German and some Italian and French. We both enjoy the outdoors and walking, so taking your pets out for their daily walks would be a pleasure for us.
We both love dogs and had a wonderful, fun-loving West Highland Terrier for many years who we both still miss very much. We enjoy looking after friends' dogs whenever we get the chance.
In 2007 we decided we were ready for a lifestyle change and went to work in Italy for 5 years managing a beautiful restored villa with extensive grounds. Our responsibilities included arranging repairs, dealing with tradesmen, looking after the house, swimming pool and gardens. We integrated into the local Italian way of life and our time spent there taught us to be self-sufficient and adaptable in a different environment.
In 2013 we returned to the UK and sold our house in Nottingham, moving up to Yorkshire to be closer to our daughter. We bought a new house in the small town of Easingwold and after settling in we enjoyed some successful housesitting assignments during 2014 in France and the USA. Since then Jean has returned to work part-time for the local Town Council.
Now that we have completed our new home and spent time exploring the North of England, we have decided to travel further afield again and enjoy some more housesitting opportunities and travelling.
