My work plans for this time have changed and now so have my Christmas plans. I live in a small, quiet medieval village in a rural location, nestled in the Alps about an hour from Nice. It is an ideal location for nature lovers who like mountain walks and being outdoors amongst beautiful scenery. There are the basics of life in the village: pharmacy, newsagent, supermarket, bakery and bank machine. There is more comprehensive shopping about 5 km away. I rent a car while I am here= life is much easier if you have one. It is possible to live well on what is available here. There are many stairs in the house, so it is not the right place for someone with mobility issues. The house has five storeys and is comfortably but simply furnished. Carers would have their own floor with bathroom. There is Internet. Sadly, satellite reception to the uk was just switched off across Europe, but there is basic satellite and the Internet provides TV channels. I have many, many movies and Internet radio. The house has a well-equipped kitchen, living room and dining room. There is a dishwasher, washer and dryer. There is a roof terrace with sofa and chairs and a gas BBQ. It is an ideal spot for someone who needs peace and quiet and who enjoys being outdoors. The dogs love mountain walks.
First and foremost,I need a mature, non=smoking couple or single who can provide consistent care and companionship to my sweet female westie/ Maltese cross and male Tibetan Terrier, including daily feeding and watering and good walks 3-4 times a day and dealing with an emergency,should one arise. If you are good at training dogs, this would be a handy skill. The house side just needs to be clean, secure and well-cared for. This year marks the Christmas pageant in the village- normally done every three years. Although it would be handy if you spoke a little French, my bilingual neighbour is willing to be contacted in an emergency,
