I'm a writer who is in the process of writing a travel memoir. I've sold my house, furniture, and car in order to do this. As a homeowner I understand how you can love an inanimate object. Therefore, I will treat your home as I would my own. And dogs? I grew up with yellow labs. I just can't have one as I travel too much. I love to go to the dog park to play with other people's dogs. I've not had cats of my own but stayed with them for friends and clients. My sit in Quito with Olly and Oscar turned me into a cat lover too. I even worked on board sailing ships that had a ship's cat. I’ve also sat with sheep and a chinchilla. And mice? I worked for Disney Cruise Line so I know one mouse very well. I love making friends with a variety of animals.

I've traveled to all 50 US states as well as 70 countries so I love exploring other cultures. And it's fun to have a furry friend to do it with.

Carole is a well travelled, kind, caring and reliable house sitter with many years of experience with animals, and we can highly recommend her services.

Carole was a prompt communicator from the moment she reached out to apply for our housesit in Basel, Switzerland. She arrived a day earlier so that we could meet her and introduce her to our dog, Alaska, and our 2 cats, Ash and Raven, as well as showing her different spots to walk Alaska and to demonstrate the feeding routines and the apartment appliances.

While we were away for 3 months, Carole and I communicated frequently via WhatsApp. I checked in with her occasionally, and she shared photos of our pets and reached out early if she had any issues (e.g. pet food running out sooner than expected). She also sent photos of our postal mail to make sure nothing required action. Carole befriended our upstairs neighbor despite the language barriers, which was important for house relations.

Alaska was absolutely spoiled by Carole while were away, swimming in the river and going on walks in town and coming home absolutely exhausted. Our cats got lots of attention too whenever they deigned to come indoors and get cuddles.

Our apartment and plants were also well taken care of during our absence and Carole left everything in working order and clean.

Carole stayed a week after our daughter returned from overseas and supported her by continuing to care for our animals while she organized paperwork for her next trip, which was greatly appreciated.

We would definitely love to have Carole back if she ever wants to visit Basel again!
