Hello. I am a reliable, non-smoking female, aged thirty one, with my own vehicle.
I have a deep seated love for all animals. I have rescued an older dog and cared for her through her last couple years, and as a child had many kittens and dogs (even a hedgehog) around. I am active and love dog walking, and I also understand the needs of slower older animals quite well.
I work seasonally, in the summers, for the Forestry branch of the Government Of Alberta. I work on a Fire Tower, watching for forest fires and maintaining a cabin, property and airstrip. The maintenance includes mowing a large yard as well as a very large grass airstrip, maintaining garden beds, keeping the cabin clean and in functioning order (including any small repairs), maintaining a small weather station, doing any painting needed around the property, maintaining propane generators, tanks and appliances (including oil changes), and doing seasonal maintenance on the various mowers I use.
I have previously been employed as a professional dog walker/pet-sitter/home-sitter, property maintenance worker (gardening, painting, small renos, move-in/move-out cleaning), as well as having been an employee of the University of British Columbia. I have experience feeding cows, pigs, and chickens, as well as in permaculture settings.
I come with excellent house sitting/pet sitting references, as well as those from my government and university positions.
I am available from now until at least the end of May, 2015. I am attending classes at Okanagan College from November until May, and will be available for a house sit in the Okanagan during this time, or for shorter periods within this time frame.
I am currently saving for a down payment on my first home, and would like to reduce expenses by house sitting. I am looking to gain more current house sitting references (some of mine are a bit older) so that when I graduate in the spring I might find a longer house sit to help with savings for my down payment.
