After several writing fellowships with companies like CNN, NPR, and Outside Magazine, I've decided I'd like to put my skills to the test as a journalist in the field. In order to best report on adventure travel, cultural exchange, and local living styles, I'm pursuing opportunities to care for others' home spaces in various places throughout the world, as a way to supplement my income while doing what I can to support others' travel dreams.
As for caretaker qualifications: Over the past decade, I've been a short-term live-in babysitter for children as young as two and animals as young as three months; frequently watch homes while taking care of multiple dogs and cats; am well-informed about security measures; have acquired basic electrical and plumbing skills thanks to an interest in how things work; and can provide references if necessary.
When not engaged in fellowship duties, I enjoy hiking, running, biking, photography, guitar, and especially volunteering at a local animal shelter. I adore animals of all kinds, and have taken many training classes that enable me to care for them appropriately.
I have never smoked or done drugs, rarely, drink, and am very health conscious. These lifestyle choices notwithstanding, I thoroughly enjoy socializing, meeting new people, and exploring as many facets of new-to-me cultures as I can. I'm multilingual (Spanish, Mandarin, English) and especially interested in how different cultures approach environmentalism and natural spaces.
