We are an early 50's couple who have been house sitting for many years. As former homeowners who travel ourselves, we understand many of the concerns you may have while being away from home. Our primary goal is to take care of everything on the home front so you can fully enjoy your time away.
In the last 8 years David and I have completed house sitting assignments in the US, Mexico, Italy, UK, France, Croatia, and Thailand, from 3 days to 7 months in duration.
We love animals! We have both had dogs and cats since childhood. I have extensive experience with owning horses and goats (including milking). Between the two of us, we've also either owned or cared for parrots, sugar gliders, several reptiles and pretty much every type of barnyard creature imaginable - pigs, cows, sheep, donkeys, mules, emus, and more! We both very much enjoy being around animals of all types and that is something we have missed these past years of traveling. We both work from home so we spend a lot of time with the animals we sit for. We make them feel loved and secure while their owners are away.
We are used to being flexible and adapting to new environments quickly. We are equally at home in a totally urban environment as we are in a very rural place miles away from the nearest neighbor. We have taken care of everything from large estates that required staff management, to small apartments. We are particularly fond of old houses and enjoy their quirks and character. We know how to use woodburners and Agas and all kinds of wonderful things!
David and I are mature, detail oriented, stable, and reliable. We are also non-smoking and don't do drugs. We are financially stable as well so we aren't looking for house sitting as a way to live cheap, more for the experience of living locals in a different environment for a period of time.
I am a good gardener and enjoy taking care of plants. I had my own organic vegetable garden for many years and worked for a plant/yard maintenance company for a while. David is also good at gardening, yard, and pool care.
Our one requirement is reliable internet access. David is a Consultant and Contract Proposal Writer and we both are photographers for Getty Images, and Shutterstock. We do online meetings and also upload fairly large files.
We currently have a 4WD Rav4 for use in the EU/UK and outside of that region we could rent or buy a car, though having one provided by the homeowner is always greatly appreciated. We both have clean driving records and are experienced in driving on both sides of the road. We are also experienced with 4 wheel drive vehicles, and motorbikes/scooters.
We have more than 20 excellent references that we are happy to provide. We have had a full background/police check through another housesitting platform which we will share. We have also both had a Federal (US) background check through the Global Entry program by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
