Description

Hi. I am looking for a house/dog sitter for 4
days in February of 2010, but would like to find
someone to use on a regular basis.
Here's the doggie scoop:) I have 3 dogs, but
there would be 4 to watch. I'd be leaving on
February 13, a Saturday, and returning on
February 17, a Wednesday, in the late afternoon.
So you would have to be here Saturday morning
(unless you wanted to come Friday night) and
could leave Wednesday anytime after, let's say,
noon.
The dogs aren't very demanding, but they are a
little "wild" in the morning when they are let
out of the bed/crates, because they can't wait
to get to their food. They dash to the door, do
their business, and fly back in to eat. After
that they pretty much lay around all day, except
to go out, which they let you know when it's
time. They are happy laying on the chairs while
I watch TV at night, minus one who likes to bug
you to go out to look for toads, but after a
certain time, around 9:30pm, I don't let them
out any more. They wake up around 7:30 to 8:00
at the latest, or they will start getting
restless and make noise.
Pretty much all they need is to be fed, watered,
cleaned up after outside once a day, spend
quality time with them, and the house needs it's
paper and mail brought in. That's it.

I made a detailed "list" of their schedule the
last time I went away and a friend watched them.
She must have thought it was too much like clock
work, because she told another friend that it
was too demanding to do everything I asked, so
that friend backed out of watching them for this
trip. I only made the list so there could be a
better understanding of their daily schedule, to
make it easier for her. For instance, they go
out in the morning, eat, and then like to go out
again within a few minutes. That was to tell
her, so there wouldn't be any "accidents" on the
floor.

Here's my only demanding part. That you be here
with them and spend the night. What I don't want
is someone to drop by for a few minutes, let
them out, then lock them up and leave. That's
why I don't board them. You can go to the store
or whatever, but I would prefer a few hours at a
time instead of all day. They have a fenced yard
to play in, but I don't leave them out there for
long periods of time by themselves, because they
have gotten into trouble before digging.

They are very friendly, but if they don't know
you and I'm not here they might bark at you the
first time they see you, so here is what I would
like; To have you come over to meet them at
least once for a few hours, I could cook or
whatever, and see their routine, and then maybe
once right before the trip to reacquaint them
with you. My friend saw them once, several
months ahead of time and wouldn't come back
until I was gone. When she got here, the one dog
barked like crazy at her, from her crate, for a
few minutes, until she calmed her down with
treats. The rest of the stay they were fine.

By the way, they are 3 mixed breeds, medium
sized, around 35 lbs. and a Rat Terrier which
is small (who thinks he's a giant).

I live between Shepherd Rd and Ella Blvd. off
43rd, just North of the 610 Loop, in Oak
Forrest/Shepherd Park Plaza. It a nice
neighborhood, fenced yard, 3 bedroom, big great
room with Dish Network, 60" screen, any food you
want me to supply.

I would prefer a local person, who is retired or
able to take the time off, since they need to be
let out during the day. If you are out of the
area, it might be a problem to see them twice,
ahead of time. I'm not rich, but there is pay
involved. Please write me with any other
questions.

Also, one last thing. My partner and I are
50/62, gay and together for 25 years. I only
mention this, in case you have an issue with
this, so you know ahead of time, not that this
in any way has anything to do with the dog/house
sitting. Thanks for your understanding.
