Housesitters are needed, near
northwest corner of Wrangell-St. Elias
National Park. Located two
miles off the highway system,
accessed
by jetboat up river and stream. Fifteen acres,
on two lakes,
guest cabin, main cabin, workshop, woodshed,
garden/greenhouse. THERE ARE FEW AND LIMITED
AMENITIES.
Guest cabin,twelve x twenty feet, woodstove, gas
lights, bed, desk, chairs, semi-finished
interior, single room and no other amenities.
Main cabin, sixteen x twentytwo feet,fullsize
propane stove, refridgerator, kitchen area,
woodstove, cabinetry, chairs, table, couch,
captains bed and is single room.
Electric power by generator,
windcharger/solar/batterybank/inverter,
satelite tv, telephone, internet access(very
slow). A small five cubic foot freezer provided.
Sanitary facilities are outhouses. Potable
water procured from the local store
waterwell, rainwater barrel or treated water
from
lake.
Sixteen sleddogs to be cared for.
Duties consist: cleaning dogyard, feeding,
watering once a day, cleaning water cans once a
week. One dog requires medication once a day,
the
dose is added to his food. This takes about one
hour. Time spent
socializing with the dogs at your descretion.
You must be in good physical condition, NO major
illnesses or restricting handicaps(medical
services are not readily available locally).
Working knowledge of FIREARMS required as this
is grizzly
bear habitat. THIS IS NOT RURAL, IT IS WILD
COUNTRY.
This is a volunteer position (a small stipend
can be offered) with room and
limited board provided.
