My Profile Picture is Chopped, or Cut off?

The picture in position/ slot 1 is your profile picture - it is featured on your profile or ad, and links to your Photo Gallery - full size pictures.

We reduce the Profile photo to fit the frame on your profile. Rectangular photos with ratio approx: 3 wide: 2 high; will resize better than tall or skinny ones. We automatically reduce your picture to suit the profile frame width, and keep the aspect ratio. If the original is tall and skinny, we keep the top and allow the bottom to overflow (hidden), this means legs may be chopped - even bottom of face, or partners face. This won't happen if you upload in the ratio of 3 wide to 2 high.

Here is a free - easy to use resize site to first create a version of your photo in the right proportions. Visit the site then follow the steps below.

  • Visit http://www.picresize.com/

  • Drag the resize tool to the center of the area you want to keep
  • Drag the edges out until it is approx 204px high X 291px wide
    OR
As we will reduce the picture - any proportions of 2 High : 3 Wide - eg 400px high X 600 wide
  • Click Preview, then click Done
  • Right click on photo to save to your hardrive ready to upload to Housecarers

I replaced some pictures and old pictures still showing?

I have uploaded the photos I want, entered the captions and descriptions, then hit the "continue" prompt, but every time I return to the ad to see how it looks, the old photos are still there, the new captions are with the old photos?

Your computer stores the original photo in your browser cache. It is correct on our server but not on your computer. In Internet Options on your browser please click on delete files to clear your browser cache.

My photo takes forever to upload to housecarers or fails to upload - how do I reduce the file size?

Housecarers reduces the file size on upload. However if you have a high resolution photo it can take up a lot of file spaces and take a long time to upload, or your connection may drop out. e.g. High resolution photos are now typically 4 Mb. If you first reduce the file size (not dimensions), it will upload quicker without dropping out. You can first save the picture as low resolution (for Internet that is fine. High resolution is for Printing) using your camera software. Or you reduce using Office

Reduce Photo Using Office

  • Right click on your photo your computer will Say "Open With:"
  • Select Microsoft Office
  • Click Picture Menu at the top of the page
  • Select the Compress Picture Option
  • Then select Compress for Web Page at the right of the page
  • click Ok
  • Save the picture giving it a new name and to a location you can find, as it is now ready to be uploaded to your housecarers profile

I get an error message when uploading my photo - it is in jpeg or png format?

This can happen if your photo has a long file name or the name includes special characters like &. It is better to keep the file name short and simple e.g. MyProfilePic.jpg or AtTheBeach.png

Please do not include special characters like & in your file name. It will cause errors. Just alpah and nummers eg MyHolidayPic.jpg MeAtBeatch.png

I am having difficulties selecting/uploading photos. When I click the "upload" button the file name disappears?

From the upload Function, Click the Browse button and navigate to a pictures folder on your computer. After the pictures come up you need to double click to select your chosen picture. This will return you to our upload page with the picture selected. Then click the upload button.
