We live in a renovated, traditional farmhouse on a south-facing hillside in a beautiful part of southern France (between Toulouse, Cahors and Albi). The area is peaceful and offers plenty of walks, wild animals, old villages, gorges, chateaux, streams, etc.
The house is 10 km from a medieval market town (large river, canoeing, cinema, bars, supermarket, restaurants, etc. and a busy Sunday-morning market) and 5 km from a medieval village (post office, bank, pharmacy, mini-market, bakeries and a small, twice-weekly street market). There is no public transport, so you will need a car.
We have to go to Jersey for two months but Pookie the cat's 'pet passport' won't be valid until October. We're looking for a mature person/couple to take care of the house and Pookie and to harvest our walnut crop (only one tree, but it's a huge one!).
We will pay the utilities, but if you want the use of a land line and broadband Internet (1 Mb), it will cost 40 euros per month (excluding calls).
There are lovely views from the house and you may help yourself to the last tomatoes etc. growing in the veggie garden (though the pumpkins and beet roots are for us!).
The walnuts will drop in October and will need to be gathered several times a day to prevent them from getting damp. They will also need to be left in baskets in the sun and brought in at night.
A friendly English couple live further up the hill, and a Dutch couple will visit their house just down the hill at half-term.
Pookie the cat needs feeding and otherwise looks after herself.
There is an outdoor area with wood to make fires in the evenings.
Hope to hear from you -- Jeremy
