Looking for a housesitter for about 2 months from late August 2017 to look after our house and pets and garden. Cygnet is 'Gourmet Farmer' country, with an amazing market on Sundays, scrumptious restaurants, and yet small enough to be very friendly. We live on a few acres just north of Cygnet, with a large permaculture garden, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a few chooks, geese and ducks. The latter take care of themselves (by and large), but the dogs do like a daily walk if possible, especially the younger (and bigger) one. If the weather is dry, the garden may need some watering. We have a composting toilet (my son says I have to let people know!) which requires a bit of extra work - so if you are squeamish about handling your own byproducts, this may not be for you. We have tank water (usually plenty of water, especially as we will be at the end of winter, and have recently had a large litre concrete tank installed). We also have a solar hot water system with wood fire and electric booster. The house itself has 4 bedrooms, all on one level, with 3 steps up to the house at the front. Wood fire for warmth, very easy to use, and plenty of wood already chopped and ready to go.
We try to live a 'minimalist' life, although you may think I am a bit of a hoarder when you see the 'library'. I am very careful with my power usage (we do have solar power, which feeds in to the grid) - I would expect others to do likewise. Having said that, we use computers, TV, music systems, fridge, washing machine etc - we are not totally 'back to basics'!
My son will be heading off overseas, but I will be living in Hobart for the duration, so will be nearby for any queries. I would like to be able to visit probably every weeks to say hello to you and the dogs (and cats and chooks and But don't worry, I will check with you on when I can visit - I would not be there to interfere at all!
