We are looking for someone trustworthy to house-sit (and more importantly, dog-and-cat-sit) for us for a month here in the beautiful west of Ireland, from mid-February to mid-March We live in a 100 year old cottage, sensitively restored with original features intact, including fireplaces in every room, high ceilings, Liscannor flagstone floors, and stone walls, but with the comforts of underfloor heating, a luxury bathroom, broadband, Tempur mattress, and a decent sound system! We have 2 cats, Johnny Cash and Ruby, who are largely self-sufficient, and 2 dogs. Tigger is 14, and is a big, friendly, sleepy dog who needs liquid medicine to be mixed with her food to help with her arthritis. Murphy is our latest addition, and is a personable little guy, half Yorkshire and half Bichon Frise and all love! He sleeps on the bed, but doesn’t take up much room! Both dogs need to be fed, watered, and walked at least twice a day. We love living in County Clare. Our cottage is in the countryside, with peace and tranquility around us, overlooking the sea, but within a couple of miles of amenities in the small towns of Ennistymon, Lahinch, and Liscannor, and very near to the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin, and the Burren. For us, the biggest appeal is that it is stunningly beautiful, there is great traditional music in the pubs most evenings, and while you are there you can meet the most friendly and interesting people! But for those looking for something more, there are great walks in the hills and by the sea, world-class golf, a birds-of-prey centre, and some of the best surfing in the world, even for those of us who consider it a spectator sport! Not to mention, St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland! We will of course, introduce you to some friendly people before we leave! Nevertheless, if you are used to a lot of people and activity around, you may find it a bit quiet in mid-February! We will be away from 15 February through 15 March, and would love for you to come a few days early to get acclimated and learn the ropes!
