Home on 3 acres near the southernmost point of the USA. We have 4 pet cats indoor/outdoor and a feral cat colony (2 dozen?), and a pond full of fish. Automated watering for the colony, otherwise keep the kibbles coming.... On grid: electric,/solar, tele , WIFI, satellite TV. Off grid: propane gas, water catchment.
Main requirement make sure the water system is ok...
We are in a rural area, but our town, has 2 markets and 3 gas stations, couple restaurants, and a lot of quiet.
We are 50 miles south of Kilauea Volcano and on the side of Mauna Loa at about the 1700 foot level. We're cooler (about 5 degrees F.) than Kona and Hilo...
