Hi I am looking for a responsible sitter to look after my property. I have two dogs (1 large 1 small, both inside animals), 11 geese, 4 pigs and 15 alpacas.
All of the animals have different requirements and would need someone who loves animals and has a practical approach.
My dogs are inside dogs. They need to be taken out in the morning and afternoon and given a walk or exercise on the property. Usually they will be outside with me doing gardening etc. They absolutely love a trip to the beach or a walk through the bush behind my place.
Zarla (German Shepherd) can be very dominant and needs close watching around the other animals. She will misbehave if allowed.
Both dogs stay inside the house while I am out, they are not to be left outside.
The geese need feeding every day or two with some wheat scattered. One of the geese lives near the house (I raised him). He needs daily feeding and fresh water.
The pigs also need daily feeding and their water checked. I am about to change their paddock - the new one water needs to be bucketed over. They don't drink a lot during winter so this wont need to be done daily, but if its frozen it will need breaking. They are friendly pigs, half regular size. Two love a belly rub.
Their electric fence will need monitoring and checking, as they can regularly short it out.
The alpacas will also need feeding, every two days or so. Some have cria. They will need monitoring if there is particularly harsh weather. I will provide numbers of people to contact if there are any issues.
I have a small but cozy house. It can get quite cold here in winter, but there is a wood heater with internal fan that keeps the house nice and warm.
I am 35minutes from nearest shops. There is a walk behind the house through bush. 40 minutes to the coast. It is a very peaceful environment with views down the valley.
If you love animals, a change of environment and a peaceful setting then this is the sit for you.
