Housesitter needed for 18 days in historic Halifax, Nova Scotia (exact dates are July 7th - 24th, 2022).
We are located in the west end but still very accessible/walkable to Quinpool Road, Halifax Shopping Centre, Commons and Dalhousie University. Easy access out of the city also via Connaught Avenue/Chebucto Road/Armdale Rotary and excellent metro transit connections.
Our home is approximately 80 years old in a older quiet neighbourhood with predominantly families and seniors. We have two bedrooms and two bathrooms. One office space, and a family room which could be a guest room. Three levels and a developed basement with exercise/kids play area and laundry room. We have tv, wifi, laundry..... anything you would need. We have a good sized driveway.
We have two pets - 1 dog and 1 cat. However, the dog is nervous of new people in the house and will go to a kennel. The cat (Pinky) is around 13 to 14 years old and a long term medical foster from the SPCA. She is pretty easy going and likes to sleep a lot. Care is minimal. She requires a medication ground into her breakfast and dinner meals. Additionally, she receives gabapentin 2x/day by syringe. If this gets missed on occasion it's not a crisis. Regular brushing to manage hair loss is beneficial. Otherwise, typical care of daily feeding and scooping litter is all that is needed.
We have a good sized back yard and an outbuilding doubling as an office space-shed with bikes and outdoor equipment. (Pinky likes to enjoy the yard on a leash). We do not have an extensive garden. Standard yard care such as mowing the grass and watering the front garden as necessary is all that is expected.
We are non-smokers and would prefer a non-smoker also.
Some expectations we have (or preferences) are: 1. We would like to meet you at least the day prior to us leaving to provide a key. 2. We both sign a house sitting agreement which is found on this site (and we adjusted to meet our needs). 3. A $500 security deposit be paid which will be returned to you upon our return home. 4. We have a document which details various features, services, and operating instructions which we will forward ahead of time.
