NOTE: I HAVE RECEIVED A LOT OF INTEREST IN THIS AD AND AM REPOSTING ONLY FOR THOSE WHO HAD REPLIED IN AUGUST. IF I DO NOT MAKE A MATCH WITH MY CURRENT GROUP OF RESPONDERS, I WILL TAKE THIS NOTE OFF. SORRY, BUT I TOOK THE AD OFF SO I WOULDN'T MISLEAD ANYONE, BUT IT CAUSES CONFUSION FOR THE FOLKS WHO HAD RESPONDED. We are looking for a housesitter for our home in Mill Valley, CA from December 6th to January 5th. Because this period covers the holiday period, I'm not sure how successful we will be in finding someone, so we aren't making plans until we have the sitter issue figured out. For those of you unfamiliar with the area, Mill Valley is 10 miles north of San Francisco. We live in a multi-story home (3 bed, 2 ba; and yes, this is Marin, so we do have a hottub) that has the feel of a cabin in the woods, since our home is surrounded by the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. (The Miwok trail head is less than 1/2 mile from our house. Coyote Creek originates almost behind our home, and the waterfalls and the stream during the winter and spring provide a wonderful ambiance. No worries, we're high above the water!) We are frequently visited by deer, squirrels, raccoons and other animals who make their home in the open space. The most important criterion in a sitter is a love of cats as we have two cats. One of our cats may have asmatha so the sitter must be willing to give a cat medicine (he's good about it). We also would ask that the housecarer tend to our plants. Most of our plants are in containers on decks; the surrounding yard is actually the natural habitat of the open space. Because this time period is early winter, if the rains have started, there would be no work outside the home with respect to tending to the plants. You need to be very fond of cats, a non- smoker, and trustworthy. We can't accept any other animals due to the fact that at least one of the cats is not open to new animal experiences within the home. You will also need a car since the closest commercial services are more than 2 miles away. This is an ideal place for someone who likes the peace of the countryside with the proximity of the City. (There is no noise or light pollution here; it's a great place for writers or artists seeking solitude. The commute to the Financial District in San Francisco during rush hour is about minutes. During other times of day one can get to San Francisco in 30 minutes or less.) We would prefer a single person or a couple. I used this site in the spring and had several great people respond, so if any of you are interested, please let me know. Thanks. you.
