I am a 58 yo female, non-smoking, animal lover looking for a change of pace, new scenery, new people or seclusion; I am flexible.
I have current passport and fully vaccinated with 3 Covid boosters.
I am currently a substitute teacher, which I love. On long-term sits, I am interested in tutoring as a native English speaker, although I do not speak any other languages, but learning Spanish.
I have been cleared by a background check for substitute teaching, as well as serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA (which is like the Peace Corps) in 2015, which also required FBI background check.
I absolutely love animals, as a matter-of-fact, I prefer to sit for people who have animals. The only thing I am not crazy about is feeding someone's spiders or snakes, especially if they have to be fed live animals. I follow directions on taking care of plants, but I am not a gardener per se.
I prefer 2 months or more house sits. It allows me to live like a local and get to know people. Also, looking for shorter term sits if closer to home (Amarillo, TX). Summer breaks approx May 22 - Aug 15 yearly, I am interested in spending that time on the long term sits. Christmas breaks 2-3 weeks.
I also would like to discuss bringing my professionally trained service dog. She is 3 yo (as of June Originally a stray in my neighborhood outside of the city limits, I rescued her in January Spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on shots. She's a family member now. She was perfect on planes, bus, train, Uber, and boat.
She's very friendly. Has her route around the neighborhood to visit human and critter friends alike. Horses, cattle, goats, chickens, guineas, other dogs and cats. She gets along with everyone. Has never had a problem in dog parks.
Anyway, I hope you will be willing to discuss her accompanying me on my visits.
I spent 2 months in Romania without her because I had already committed to a stay before I finally was notified by British Airways that she's a banned breed and they refused to fly her even as a service animal. Would have been nice to have that info stated on their . American Airlines had approved her. And, she's flown Southwest.
Each house sit will be adjusted to fit all parties. I promise I will be clear and so will you when the details are finalized. Please don't disregard my application solely depending on my dog. Give me the opportunity to iron out the details.
