I live in New Braunfels which I think is a wonderful small city. We have the largest waterpark in the U.S. right here, along with tubing in the rivers and swimming in local lakes such as Canyon Lake. September is a wonderful month - temperatures are generally great. We have the waterparks and rivers to enjoy, and an amazing number of places to go out to eat and listen to music. You get to go to the largest waterpark in the US and tube down the Guadalupe River! Close by are both San Antonio with the wonderful Riverwalk and Austin with its music scene. Plenty of places to go kayaking at that time of year, both here in town and also some wonderful moonlight kayaking trips you can take in Austin. I did one last May on the night of a full moon and it was just wonderful! And I have a kayak you can use if you'd like to.
I'm looking for a couple (or possibly an individual) who would be available for these dates - the start date is fixed, although you could arrive early if you'd like. I am also flexible at the end. Basically I just need someone to take care of my dog (Emmy) and cat (Trip). Emmy is an older dog who just needs you to love her and take her out a few times a day and Trip is a chill, 3-legged cat who goes out in the morning and needs to come in before dark. Both animals are real easy. There are a lot of events going on all over the area. New Braunfels is near rivers and lakes, and also within an easy drive of both San Antonio and Austin.
My home is fairly close to downtown New Braunfels but sits on 6 wooded acres so you feel like you are really in the country. The house is a good size and you would have your own area with bedroom and bath. The two guest bedrooms are on one side of the house with its own bath, and at the other end of the house from the master bedroom. You will need a car to get around the area as there is no public transportation. New Braunfels has some great tubing and kayaking. Historic towns like Gruene are less than 10 minutes away with the Guadalupe River, Gruene Hall with free music just about everyday and the Grist Mill for dining, as well as historic cities such as Fredericksburg and Wimberley. San Antonio and Austin are a short driving distance so you can enjoy both city and country while you're here. This would be perfect for a couple who want to get to know the area or for someone who has friends and would like to spend time visiting them. The weather recently has actually been fantastic!
If you're interested, please contact me asap. Have had many housesitters in the past and it's been a great experience. Look forward to hearing from you.
