If you are between housesits or just looking for a rustic winter opportunity, we are looking for a reliable, resourceful, and non-smoking couple or individual to mind our home and dogs over Christmas and New Years. Your arrival would be on Monday, December 23 and departure on January 7 or 8. Our quiet log home is very near the Blue Ridge Parkway. No children or pets please.
Tasks, besides keeping things tidy, include feeding and companionship (twice daily walking, ball-throwing, etc) for 2 smaller loving dogs, keeping the big outdoor stove stoked with wood two or three times a day, and tending the bird feeders on the front porch and deck. There is lots of land for walks, high speed internet, streaming TV ready, and peace and quiet.
This area, at about 3000' elevation, is scenic and close to the wonderful and artsy town of Floyd. Shopping, art galleries, winery, brewery, pub, and nice restaurants all in a town with only one stoplight. Typical temperatures for the period would be 20/30s F at night, and 30/40s F by day. Snow is not uncommon, but seldom more than a couple of inches
We know this request is short notice, but the opportunity might be perfect for a quick winter retreat or to fill a gap between other sits.
