Grandchildren are great, except when they live overseas.
My wife and I are travelling to the UK to visit our daughter, her husband and our 2 grandsons in England in October. We would love to take our dog, but, unfortunately, there are those pesky immigration and customs restrictions. So, we need a person, or persons, to watch our home and our 5-year old border collie while we are away.
Our home is a 1928 craftsman bungalow in the Del Ray area of Alexandria, about 1/2 block from "the avenue" and about 1/2 a mile to 2 Metro stops (King Street and Braddock Rd.). Basically, we will need someone to care for our pup, minor gardening details (perhaps cutting the grass and watering the flower beds and potted plants), taking in the mail and newspaper, and the usual living in the house stuff. Our home is 2 bedroom and 1 bath, and we are currently working on a verrrrrrry slow remodel. No work on the house, aside from keeping it clean will be required.
Our pup is very mild mannered, especially for a border collie. She will bark at squirrels, the occasional bird, and sometimes people who have the temerity to walk down her alley or sidewalk. Her best friend, another BC, lives next door, and they do have play dates in each others yards.
So, that's us, and our needs. Please reply if you want to be close to the "action" of DC, Old Town, and Del Ray, but still be very much in a community, love dogs and want a convenient temporary home.
References are required, and interviews will be scheduled on reply.
We, our kids and grandkids, and our dog all thank you.
