We have a large, lovely Craftsman style house in West Portal, a very desirable San Francisco neighborhood. The house is 4 bedrooms (two used as offices, two with queen sized beds)upstairs; kitchen, dining room, living room and breakfast room downstairs. There is a pool table/recreation room in the basement, along with laundry facilities. The house is fully detached and has a lovely garden with pond (where about 24 goldfish live)and small man-made stream and waterfall.
West Portal Avenue, one block from our house, has many restaurants (Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Indian, Peruvian, American and more), a movie theater that shows current films, several cafes, two large drugstore/pharmacies, many gift shops, two toy stores, several bars and two wine bars. It is an active, popular area.
Two blocks from the house is the Muni Metro (our subway), that takes you downtown in about 15 minutes. It also takes you to the ocean (about three miles away) in a few minutes, where you will find Ocean Beach, the San Francisco Zoo, and other attractions.
We are an attorney (67) and a retired non-profit executive (now a Photographer). We are planning a cross-country trip in October and need someone to look after the house - and especially the pond and stream in the yard. The pond filters need to be cleaned and the water replenished as needed. This should be done about twice a week (or as needed).
We are not willing to pay for house sitting, but offer a lovely home in a wonderful, convenient neighborhood. It's a great base for exploring the wonders of San Francisco and the Bay Area.
I plan to leave on October 1st, my husband will follow on the 11th. We will return on November 2nd.
We hope to find a reliable person who can watch over the house and garden. Non-smoking please.
