We need someone to care for and walk our loving patterdale terrier and prepare a stable daily for our horse over the Christmas/New Year break.
Handling the horse will NOT be necessary as a friend will be able to bring her in in the evening and turn her out in the morning. However, you will be required to muck out 1 stable, fill up and hang up hay net in the stable and get the morning and evening feeds ready. So some experience of these chores is a must.
Paddy the Patterdale terrier will expect nice long walks but is also happy to be left on his own inside for a few hours which will give you lots of time to explore the Cotswolds. We have some lovely footpaths in the area but the land is steep and muddy at this time of year and there are lots of stiles to climb over so you must be fit and agile.
The house is a recently modernised 4 bed cotswold cottage at the end of a no through road (ie. no passing traffic - bliss!) located on the edge of the cotswolds. Fantastic views and lots of great walking (just off the cotswold way). We have central heating, large woodburner, underfloor heating and an everhot cooker (similar to an aga) so nice and cosy. We would obviously expect the housesitter to keep things clean and tidy while we are away.
There is a shop/church/pub in the local village of coaley (about 1 mile) and the nearest town (Dursley) is about 3 miles with shops/supermarket and swimming pool. More amenities are available in the larger town of Stroud (20 mins by car)
There is good access to the M5 and also a small train station to Glos(15 mins)/Bristol(40 mins) 3 miles away. However, I can guarantee if you enjoy and appreciate the countryside you will have plenty to keep you occupied right here.
