We are in need of a housesitter and dog/cat tender from January 9th to the first week of May, Our 1 bedroom/1 bath house s.f.) is located in North Central Idaho in the foothills of the Clearwater Mtns. We have sixty acres of timbered property and are located atop a spur ridge with a view overlooking the Palouse farm lands and the distant Blues (a mountain range in Washington state). We have all the normal services like grid power, well water, phone, and Wi-Fi internet. We heat our house primarily with wood and would hope that you'd be familiar with that. We also have supplemental propane heat that will allow you to get out and explore the area or resupply as needed. Our house is located three quarters of a mile off of a main road and therein lies the rub, especially in the winter. Our driveway is extremely steep ' elevation gain or loss dependent on which end you're starting from!) and we don't plow when the snow comes. Mostly we snowshoe in and out or I pack a trail with the snowmachine so that we can just hike up or down. We do have a secure area to park our vehicles and that portion on down to the main road is plowed by a neighbor On the critter front we have an old, easy going golden retriever. Most days he'll accompany you on a walk to the mailbox or around the property. We also have three cats that are employed as mousers. All of our buddies are outside animals. The dog has a pen if he needs to be secured and this is also where he sleeps at night in the winter. The cats have several outbuildings to choose from and are self reliant except for food and water. We also feed the birds in the winter and we have a nice variety of birds that come in and add a splash of color against the snow It is very peaceful and quiet out here. Wildlife is abundant and its not uncommon to see deer, elk, or moose grazing away outside the window! At night the Milky Way is brilliant, the coyotes howl and its nice to take it all in from our wood fired hot tub!
And we must say, we have one of the finest sledding hills around!
