We are Bernard and Jennifer, a retired international journalist and a retired jill of all trades, including nursing. We love living in Las Vegas, but our mantra these days is to travel as often and as far as we can. We ain’t growing any younger.
My American wife and I make frequent trips to the United Kingdom, my homeland; and hope to hop off again for Christmas and New Year with family there. We would like to leave about Dec. 8 or so, and return, subject to agreement, about Jan. 11.
To that end, we are seeking a house/pet sitter to ride shotgun on our lovely cats Remus and Romulus, while we are absent, and to enjoy our capacious and comfortable condo in the western suburbs of the Las Vegas valley. We have a stylish two bedroom, two-bathroom place with all the mod cons.
Our complex has a swimming pool (terrific in the summer, not so, er, hot, in the winter); a hot tub – great for the current cool evenings – and a gym.
We live cheek by jowl to the magnificent Red Rock Canyon with its brilliant hiking trails, wildlife (mostly tame), and climbing peaks waiting for the tread of adventurers.
Las Vegas is the Rodney Dangerfield of American cities. Like that late, great comic, it “don’t get no respect”. But it should.
Vegas is, of course, an American icon. True, it is the home of a raucous and exciting nightlife, with bustling casinos and bright lights. But it also is a cultured place of much music, drama and entertainment opportunities set amid a spectacular desert valley. We are surrounded by the most magnificent mountains, with, amazingly enough, a ski resort just a hop, skip and a jump away.
Our neighborhood is Summerlin, home to a number of Hollywood, musical and sports stars (It’s not unusual to see Steffi Graf shopping in the local Albertson’s and I have often encountered Nicolas Cage in the area.), and just plain folks like us. Some of the city’s best restaurants are nearby. Summerlin Center, the valley’s premier outdoor retail area, is a minute walk from our condo.
Thanks for your courtesy in listening to my drivel. It this piques your interest, we can send you pics of the condo, Remus and Romulus, our complex amenities, and the general area we live in.
