The breezes from the Atlantic side are to die for. The air is cool at night and warm during the day. The weather is dramatic and fast moving up here on the mountain.
Beaches: Swimmable beaches are minutes away on the western coast, and a wild untamed balmy beach on the eastside in Indian Castle. Recommended for expert swimmers only. See my map at journeynevisdotcom or nevisislandmap.
Vehicle rentals by TDC or (Marlon Brando) or travel by taxi (Stedroy, ) or bus. The bus stop is a 6-minute walk down the hill on the main island road. Stand on the left by crossing the street to go to town or west; stay on the side of the street after your walk down the hill and you can catch a bus going to Gingerland's grocery store called Best Buy, (going east). (There is also a Best Buy in town as well.) Buses can be scarce on Sunday.
Fun stuff to do; places to go Bananas Restaurant, The Hermitage for breakfast or pizza at lunch; Rum punch in the bar; Montpelier Tapas on Monday; Nisbet dancing on Thursday, the beach for lunch and sun anytime at Oualie, Golden Rock for dinner and drinks or walks and lunch and pool during the day. Take a picnic walk along the eastern seashore where the waves are rollicking. Hike to the source. Book watersports, kayaking, snorkeling for the day. Take the car ferry to St Kitts and explore.
Gardener comes every Tuesday with a flex schedule according to when he can come. He does not need management.
Amrita the housekeeper is available for once a week and you can work out a schedule that works for you both, should you not be up for housekeeping.
I will provide water, wireless internet, phone, gardener, & the balance of electric and gas and an adorable landscaped cottage. If you are able, you may donate $60 US/ month towards the gas and electric, but not a deal breaker. What to bring You should have sunscreen, bug protection, benadryl for ant or insect bites, hat, sunglasses, good walking shoes,whatever supplements and medications you can foresee needing in case you have something that might flare up. My sis always brings some antibiotic for her flare-ups of cystitis, for example. I always bring coffee!! Chocolate!! Nuts and organic raw bars. Batteries, flashlight, insect protection.
Shoes. You might want comfy warm shoes to wear inside the house. My uggs are perfect. The floor is tile and you will be happy to have cushy warm slippers.
Hiking boots, sandals. A sweater or hoodie for chilly nights. A long sleeve shirt to protect your arms, shorts, and loose pants. Swim suit. Goggles.
There are clean towels and linens; washer and dryer.
I have a rubbermaid rain catchment tank fed by the roof gutter. The government piped in water is also drinkable. I personally drink the rain water, after boiling.
Arrival. Arrive on Nevis at Charlestown Pier or the Nevis airport. Instructions to follow.
