trustworthiness is job one; I'm a natural cynic, so I'll need convincing. The housesit can be one, long 7-month stretch, or two 3-month stretches. I plan to be home for at least one week, and possibly one month, around April.
The house is sparsely furnished and we have no pets, so it's mostly basic housekeeping, forwarding mail, and yardwork. There's lots of yardwork; we have two acres, with several small gardens. Weeding is a constant job once winter lifts; shoveling the 200' drive is also a possiblity.
We're out in "the country" in a 9-house "sub- division" about 5-7 miles away from the small, main-street town of Lexington. There are two universities, both small, in the city and not a lot else--a couple of decent restaurants, a movie house catering to the HS crowd, and, um ...
Still if you like nature, there's plenty. The Virginia Horse Center is also right outside of town. We have a nice view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the BRP is less than 20 miles away. The Appalachians are about 3 hours east. DC is a four-hour drive; Charlottesville is hours.
The house is quiet--we have DISH, but NO INTERNET connection. (I do all of my ing from work.) Remote access is still sketchy out where we live, though cell phone reception has improved to the point of being reliable.
House is on septic/well, and you have to take your own trash to the dump. All-in-all, it's beautiful but you have to make your own "fun"-- without hosting big parties!
