The petsitting friends we'd thought would sit for us had to cancel because of a health emergency. So we hope you will be interested in caring for our two wonderful pets.
We live in a very comfortable two bedroom home with a study and two baths. ( There is a queen Tempurpedic in the room you will have.) Our house faces an arroyo with lots of trees, wildlife, and hawks, so it is a peaceful setting. The outdoor "living room" and dining area face the protected-by-law wildlife corridor (You can see everything in the corridor — javelina, bobcats, coyotes —, but you're protected by a wrought iron fence.) which makes the covered terrace a pleasant spot year-round. The community pool and spa are located a short walk up the street.
Since you will be here in October, you will enjoy some of the best weather Tucson has to offer with crisp nights and degree days.
Our setting is bucolic, yet we are only a mile or so from every shop, bank, market, exercise facility, hiking trail and restaurant imaginable. You will need a car but we are only three miles from the interstate which can take you downtown in fifteen minutes or to Mexico in an hour.
Since Arizona is home to the Grand Canyon, Kartchner Caverns, Tombstone, Canyon de Chelly and Sedona, you may want to visit these places after your stay in Tucson. Tucson itself is a UNESCO World Heritage City of Gastronomy, the only one in the United States!
Our indoor-only cat, Merlin, two years old, loves to sit on your lap or look for bugs. He is very easy to care for as long as you're willing to play with him for a few minutes each day. Cooper, our ten-year-old rescued Cairn terrier, is a delight who will dance for you, especially when you take him for a nightly walk around the block.
We are looking for a mature person/couple, with good references, who truly loves animals. Our housekeeper will make sure our house is clean before we leave, so we hope our petsitters will take the same care with our house as they would with their own.
Thank you for considering us. We live in the most biologically diverse desert in the world. There's truly no other place like it on Earth! So, if this sounds like an ideal vacation spot to you, or if you're thinking of retiring to Tucson and want to "try it on," and you love animals, please let us know.
