Hello there! I'm looking for house-sitters, ideally from 18 to 24 June 2017 but can be flexible several days either way.
The house is in a small hamlet in western Finistère, 15mins from Douarnenez, 10mins from Pont-Croix at the start of the beautiful and rugged peninsula known as the Cap Sizun.
It's a typical Breton 'penty' with the addition of two small outbuildings in form of second sitting room with my bedroom above and an independent one-up/one-down gîte (let through and blocked for the dates of the sit. If you're interested in seeing pics of it, search for the GÎte de Les Mahalon on )
I wouldn't need sitters except for Laurel, my 16-year old black cat, who goes into decline if left on his own – he simply must have company and cuddles! He also likes to be fed little often but that doesn't mean spending all your time here – apart from anything else there's lots to do/see/visit in the area!
Apart from Laurel, there are no duties as such other than to keep the house clean and tidy. There are also two wood burning stoves if it gets chilly.
Kitchen facilities are 'basic' in sense of no dishwasher or microwave but otherwise well equipped, including a cooker with a useful electric double oven.
This really is a wonderful, rural part of France and as Lesmahalon itself has only a handful of houses you'll need a car. Good woodland walking direct from the property but you're more likely to be tempted by the coastal path that covers the entire length of the Breton coast.
Nearest shopping: small épicerie and good baker in Mahalon (3km), large Super U with petrol station in Landudec (5kms), all you need including organic grocers in both Pont-Croix (7kms) and Douarnenez (15kms). Quimper our nearest big town/small city is only half and hour's drive away.
What else can I say other than I hope to hear from someone soon!
