I have been offered a position with Peace Corps Response as a volunteer in Panama. PC Response places former volunteers (Honduras, ) in short-term assignments. I expect to leave the country in June and will be gone for months. I would love to have someone commit to six months with the chance of it being eight. However, I would also consider someone who can come for 3-4 months, beginning in June.
I own a halfplex in the South Natomas neighborhood of Sacramento. The location is very close to the I-5 and I-80 freeways. As they say about Sacramento…it’s got location. Hopping on to those freeways, you can be at San Francisco or Lake Tahoe within two hours.
My house sits across the street from a small neighborhood park. There is a public library branch and a community center which offers activities and classes. I have access to the library's wifi and have not paid an Internet provider for years.
I’ve lived in this house for seven years and in the South Natomas area for 22. The house itself is modest. It was built in the late 70s and is about 1250 sq. ft. It’s an open floor plan. There is a 5’ x 5’ sky light at the entrance and an indoor atrium underneath that skylight.
There are two bedrooms and two baths. I plan on putting some personal stuff in the smaller bedroom and closing it up. The rest of the house is, of course, available to you.
I had two horrible trees removed from the backyard and then put in flagstone pavers, so the back looks a little barren. However, during the summer I put out yard furniture and umbrellas and try to have some greenery/flowers to liven the place up.
I am not in a gated community, but our association has a gated area with two pools, tennis courts and basketball.
I have a cat and she is the main reason I need a house-sitter. She’s 14 and kind of aloof. There is a cat door and she goes in/out. I try to bring her in and close the door when I’m not home and at night. It’s a lot easier during the winter. She likes to be out when the weather’s nice.
My brother lives on the same block and can take over cat duties if you need to be away for awhile. I also have a friend who lives nearby and is available to help.
