I live in a ground floor garden apartment in Marrickville, an inner city suburb of Sydney. It is a very easy place to live and a lot of fun. A 15 minute walk takes you to Marrickville station with frequent trains into the city. Buses to various parts of Sydney go through Marrickville. Two bus routes take different trips into the city - both bus stops are about 5 minutes walk away. This is a multicultural part of Sydney, with people from many parts of Europe, Asia, Africa and the Pacific. I live within walking distance of a wide range of cafes, coffee shops, restaurants and speciality food shops. This means a 5 minute walk before breakfast to buy croissants or Italian bread. Local shops stock all sorts of cheese, herbs and spices, salami, pastrami, pickled vegetables, preserved and canned European specialty foods, etc. Small fruit & vegetable shops, butchers, fish shops etc provide fresh, interesting produce.
The 3 weeks I am away will be winter in Sydney. Winter is usually very pleasant with warmish days, cool nights and little rain.
I live in a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment with a large living area. There are 6 other apartments in the block and the parking area under the building has visitor spots you will be able to use. I share the apartment with a small 5 year old dog - a spaniel/poodle cross named Wills. She is a 'rescue' dog I acquired mid-March this year. She was very wary when she arrived, but she is now very friendly. She seldom barks and loves going for walks. She is used to being left at home. I will explain all her routines before you arrive and leave you notes about the house, Wills, bus and train timetables, etc
I have a courtyard garden with shrubs, fruit trees, flowers and herbs which should not need much care being winter.
