I am posting this housesit on such short notice because my catsitter has come down with a nasty bug so had to cancel. So, I thought I'd try to see if someone is available.....
My waterfront home on Bainbridge Island is a delightful home on a no bank, sandy Northwest beach with a bright sunny southern exposure. I am only a thirty five minute ferry ride away from Seattle. My home is an architect designed Northwest contemporary with lots of light inside and a wonderful path to walk to the beach, complete with our own custom picnic table. My kitchen is designed and equipped for the gourmet chef, along with a complete home entertainment center. I also have as part of my family two 13 year old Norwegian Forest Cats, Annie and Zeke who love companionship, but are quite independent indoor/outdoor cats. They are not only beautiful, but also intelligent and entertaining....and at 13 years, they do sleep more than when they were younger. My concern is that they need to be inside at night because of the coyotes on Bainbridge Island...... after 13 years Annie and Zeke know their wherabouts and think of our neighbors and their yards as part of their extended family. Zeke has a GPS collar so his whereabouts are always known.
During the day they come and go as they please, and love to join you on the beach. In the wintertime they stay close by, languishing on the radiant heated floors...but when the sun finally arrives they love sitting in the sun outside. In the summertime they spend all day outdoors under favorite bushes, coming in to snack and check on their humans.
I am a recent widow, losing my husband of 45 years a couple of years ago. I am just now beginning to go out and about for fun again. I plan on going down to visit my brother in San Diego for a week, beginning on Oct. 5 and coming home on the 12th. It is not a long catsit, but long enough to get a good vibe for Bainbridge Island.
We have had sitters over the last 24 years from New Zealand, Costa Rica, Sweden, Arizona, Texas, Seattle, California, Oregon, Colorado, Washington DC, Virginia, Seattle, Vancouver and Victoria, BC, and several couples just passing through on epic world walkabouts. What a great way to see the world!! And get to know two great cats.
Bainbridge is village-like and our neighborhood is very close knit. Our place is a quiet, serene home...and Winslow is our town. It offers a wonderful assortment of stores, with a destination grocery store and lots of small island-owned businesses. The ferry ride into Seattle can be with or without a car...the Seattle ferry terminal is right in the middle of downtown Seattle....Pike Place Market is mere blocks away, perfect for a day's destination.
We've looked forward to meeting new folks over the years, sharing both stories, our home and our furkids. I have a very large en suite guest room, so the beginning and end dates are somewhat flexible....we also have a car available for use in the area, should you need one (many folks arrive by airplane and need to be able to get around). The car would be used for on-lsland trips only.
Many of our catsitters have become friends and are repeat sitters. My home and furkids are both welcoming and restorative.
My Norwegian Forest cats are long haired, so will need grooming, although in the early fall not so much. They also eat mostly Raw cat food that I prepare, something they have eaten for their entire lives. The breeder insisted and now I am a convert also. I do augment occasionally with a favorite prepared food for variety, and ease for catsitters.
This is a shorter catsit than normal, but one I hope invites folks to visit Bainbridge Island and my two furry friends.
