We have two small wonderful dogs, Lily, a 7 y.o. chihuahua-pug mix and Sammy a 2 y.o. black and white long haired dachshund and something else mix. there is a dog door to our large backyard and they love walks, pets and snuggles. Friendly with dogs and people and even sometimes cats!
We have an automatic sprinkler system but there is some watering that will need doing and bird feeders to refill.
Silver city is a beautiful little town boasting tons of art, including it's murals and galleries, interesting coffee houses, lots of music venues such as the Tranquil Buzz, Little Toad Creek Brewery and more. People are friendly and it is so easy to strike up a conversation.
The small Wesern New Mexico University hosts concerts and speakers on a regular basis. Visit the Buckhorn Saloon and Opera house, built in the late 1800's in Pinos Altos for a night of great food and music. On the weekends there is a Farmer's Market and Makers Market with local artists and authors.
Right in town is the Big Ditch river walk and Boston Hill area (400 acres) which offers miles of hiking trails.
The surrounding area is filled with adventure - hot springs, indigenous Cliff Dwellings, small lakes for fishng or walking, the Catwalk, City of Rocks, Mimbres Valley wineries and lots more hiking with trails of different ability. The Continental Divide trail passes through Silver City.
At about 6000 ft elevation the highs in May are usually in the high 60s to mid 70's, cooling at night into the 50's.
