We are looking for someone to live-in and look after two dogs for four weeks. Our building is an old Victorian 3 storey hotel in Port Chalmers with shops at street level and flats above. It is built into the hill, so the first storey is level with the ground at the back of the building where there is a flat functional garden with lawn, raised beds and fish ponds. It is good for the dogs and a nice place to sit outside if there is no wind. We live in two flats over two levels and next door we have a tenant, Gordon, who has an elderly terrier. Gordon is retired, paints and is quiet, but sociable. There is off-street parking up the drive. The 'job' is more about dog sitting and walking than house minding. We work from home so our dogs are used to having someone around. Buddy is a 7yr old minature poodle, and like all poodles loves to be patted and fussed over. Lucca is an aloof greyhound-collie cross, 9yrs old. He's easy going but will chase anything that runs, wants to meet every dog he sees and has a phobia about motor-bikes. We walk him on a haltie along the street, but he is fine off-lead on walks away from the road and is reasonably obedient. He is not at all aggressive and likes to play and still thinks he can curl up on your lap! We walk them twice a day - a short walk in the morning to the local playing field and a longer walk around 4-5 o'clock. Port Chalmers is a lovely village with all services within close walking distance and has some beautiful walks and beaches. We depart NZ on 20 September and return on 14 October, but you would be welcome to arrive earlier and stay longer, as the downstairs is almost self-contained.
