Our Pets We have 2 dogs, easy going - a Whippet -Dale; a Fox Terrier - Tiny. 7 goats in one paddock Mums 3 babies NOT milkers. They are all placid but if this is a problem we can agist them on a neighbour’s property. Rabbits [in cages in shed in the chook pen] - 2 breeders and 1 male. We don’t have young ones when we go away. Chooks in pen with large run. All hay and food is stored either with or close by to the animals. Animals are our retirement activity not a business.
The Property 40 acres of bushland but we "live" on about first 13 acres which includes the paddocks for goats and the rest is bushwalking. Large house yard for dogs but they run freely around the property except in the goat paddock. So you don’t have to “take” them for walks. Comfortable Californian Bungalow with Guest Room – all towels and linen provided. Wood and Reverse Cycle heating/cooling. Wood and Electric stove. Plenty of wood cut and stacked. ADSL and great telly reception as on a hill.
What to do in and around Hillcrest. 25 mins out of Ballarat on good roads. 4 klms to Snake Valley 6 klms to Smythesdale. Many tourist icons, pictures, theatre, restaurants and activities about area incl. Rail Trail walks. Many town groups. Local footy at Carngham and Smythesdale. Will introduce you to our neighbours if you come up earlier or visit before August. We will leave a folder of info with ph nos of friends close by and the local Newsletter has lots of info.
Additional Information Very little to do for dogs, they will walk with you but if you go outside property (eg on the road) they will need to be on lead. Only need monthly usual medication. They love company. Other animals need daily feeding and weekly litter tray empty for rabbits. For our last house sitter (who is no longer available due to ill health) we left food in freezer and pantry and made sure she was comfortable and secure.
We require House Sitter for a trip to Mildura from November 8/9th to 15th for nights.
