Our situation is a little different than a standard housesitting assignment, but for some folks it might have some real advantages.
Our schedule is flexible. An opening is usually available and the time frame is flexible. This is a good opportunity for those needing to fill in a gap between assignments or looking for a longer time frame
- Besides a “free” place to stay, our assignment provides meals.
- Our assignment is a lovely farm in Western Pennsylvania and we are looking for someone to help out with chores on the farm, in exchange for room and board
The farm is a lovely place and a wonderful change of pace. Georgie, the owner, will provide all the "farm" training you will need. She does work off the farm part-time, and this is where a helper/housesitter can really help.
Our small farm of 230 acres is set in a beautiful section of western Pennsylvania with rolling hills, vast forests, and the large Mahoning Creek nearby. Over 40 years we have built the farm to provide a substainable lifestyle, but still have necessary modern convienences, like WiFi. We actively maintain a large vegetable garden and a small orchard, as well as raise organic, free-range lamb. Currently, a flock of sheep, free range chickens, a cat, and a dog share the farm with us. For many years, we have participated in a helper program where we have helpers from over the world come and help on the farm, in exchange for room and board. Consequently, we are very use to dealing with those new to farm life. The farm is a very peaceful, yet active place. Also, we are just a little over an hour from Pittsburgh.
