We are looking for house sitters for our small hobby farm in beautiful Qualicum Beach, BC. We bought our property 5 years ago around the same time of year. We drove into the small tree covered driveway which opened up to a stunning sight of 3 large blooming Rhododendron trees on one side and lilac trees on the other. The property was stunning and we fell in love with it immediately. We brought our 2 daughters now 18 and 20 along with our 2 dogs, 2 cats and 3 horses (one of whom passes away 2yrs ago of old age) and we packed up our home and moved in within in 2 months in the midst of renovations.
We love living in this peaceful tranquility which is a 5 minute drive to Coombs, famous for the goats who live on the roof and 8 minutes away from the city and beach of Qualicum Beach. This small city is one of the most beautiful small towns I have ever seen with its amazing flowers and the lack of fast food restaurants and franchises.
We have a small 3 bdroom rancher which we have completely renovated including closing in the 26ft porch with windows which looks onto our very large fountain garden which will need watering daily.
Our animals are very low maintenance. Our horses are the most demanding, but they only require grain feedings a day with hay and then get 2 more flakes of hay in mid afternoon and at bedtime. They do not need exercising, but if you enjoy horses they love to be brushed. They are sweet older horses who just like hanging out together side-by-side all day and are perfectly happy as long as they are fed and watered.
We have one older chihuahua-terrier who likes hanging out and napping all day and one 5 year old pure bread chihuahua who thinks he's human. He hangs out with his mama all day and follows her from room to room. He loves people and expects everyone to fawn over him.
Our one cat lives outside with our horses and gets dry food twice a day on the porch plus water (the other cat moved to Nanaimo with our daughter who is in College) Oh yes, I almost forgot, our daughter's chinchilla will also be moving back home while she is on vacation with us. He just requires 1 feed a day and his water topped off occasionally.
All and all, our animals are pretty low maintenance, but are very entertaining. I hope I have given you a picture of our Shangri-La and you will consider coming to visit and stay for a few weeks and take care of our furry family while we are away of a much needed holiday. Thank you, Sheri and Roland
