I need a housesitter or sitters from around the 30th April onwards for at least a couple of months. The home is on a rural eco-community and has solar power and tank water. It has bottled gas for cooking and showering and to run a small fridge. It's basic, but peaceful, with abundant friendly, inquisitive wallabies and other wildlife. Sadly, there are no cats or dogs allowed, and there are no pets to care for but I would need the lawn mowed. I would also need to be able to come and collect things from time to time by prior arrangement, and what would be really wonderful would be to find someone with an interest in helping me complete and plaster an Earthbag dome in the garden. That basically involves handing tubs of earth up to me as I teeter on top of the wall. It's nearly finished and it will be fun. The plastering involves slapping handfuls of sand and clay based mix on to the wall and patting it down. If you're artistic you can help me design sculpted or mosaiced decorative features....I would visit occasionally by arrangement in order to do this and sleep elsewhere. This activity is optional. I am easy going, and don't mind if you have to be away sometimes, or can't start straight away, and I will also be flexible about end dates. At this stage I anticipate the property will be available for at least a couple of months and maybe several months.
The home is about 35 minutes from Lismore, about the same from Nimbin and Kyogle. There is a good local shop and cafe a few minutes drive away, a great swimming hole about twenty minutes drive away at Hanging Rock, and a great cafe at Sphinx Rock which has good live local bands on Sundays and is about 30 minutes drive. Lismore has most things you could need and the Northern Rivers area has great Sunday markets.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Earthgenie :)
