Oasis of rural living in the heart of a city
We are looking for a responsible individual or couple to care for our home from July 22 to Nov. 5, 2012, though we will consider some flexibility in those dates for the right person/couple.
Ours is a modern, three-bedroom, two-bath, 1700-square-foot, multi-level home nestled in a lovely semi-rural location 15 miles east of downtown Sacramento. We are a short walk from old Fair Oaks Village, home to a variety of great eateries, including the best vegetarian take-out spot in the entire region, as well as salons, spas, antique shops, art galleries, and a classic neighborhood bar. The Village also has a popular park with an open-air amphitheatre that offers comedy shows, plays and weekly concerts. We are also just a 10-minute walk from the fabulous American River Parkway, which offers 50 miles of biking, hiking and horse trails that stretch from downtown Sacramento all the way to historic Folsom (yes, the same one in the Johnny Cash song.) All the usual shopping malls, grocery stores and other amenities of urban living are just a short drive in almost any direction.
Other details about our home: Very quiet location on a private drive set well back from road. We have lots of wildlife, mostly deer but the occasional raccoon or turkey too. We just installed a new, energy efficient HVAC system. Home includes a washer, dryer, dishwasher, a very large and comfortable front deck, wireless Internet, TV (sorry, no cable) and requires very minimal yard care. We have one indoor-outdoor cat, 18 years old but in excellent health. She mostly hangs out outside but does come in at night and has a litter box for her inside times.
Easy drives to San Francisco Bay Area, Napa wine region (about 2 hours) and Lake Tahoe (90 minutes).
