Our house, on San Francisco Bay, includes an independent apartment with great views and the companionship of a smart, sociable dog, Selket. When we travel, our primary concern is for her, so we prefer to leave our house in the care of "dog people". Household care is minimal since we have a gardener and will only require routine checks on the main house and watering of a few plants.
For the house sitters, we offer a new, fully independent apartment with private access from the outside. This is a studio apartment with all the amenities including cable TV and WiFi and a well equipped kitchen. The apartment is comfortable and light with large windows and a spectacular view of Golden Gate Bridge and of the San Francisco skyline.
We live in Point Richmond, a small, unique (there are no parking meters!) town with convenient freeway access to many attractions including beaches, Napa Valley, San Francisco, lots of hiking trails and of course shopping. We are a short walk into Point Richmond for dinner or shopping. Point Richmond is a real treat for walking with unique house, lots of plants and trees and great views. Public transportation is limited. Trips into San Francisco are easy via public transportation (Bay Area Rapid Transit) with a terminal a few miles away. Typical of urban areas, a car is necessary. House sitters with a car are preferred, but we may be able to make a car available subject to driver approval by our insurance company. Our neighbors are very supportive and have been welcoming and helpful to house sitters in the past.
Our dog, Selket, is trained, well mannered and friendly. There is a fenced area which she is given access to but she usually wants to hang out with us. Selket is an energetic dog requiring dog walks everyday, so bring your walking shoes.
In addition to being "dog people", our requirements for house sitters are just basic home owner skills to perform routine household duties associated with life: collecting the mail, handling garbage cans, checking the house for any problems and watering a few plants. NO SMOKERS – please.
