--Fortunate are we, Margo & Robert, both late 70's, to have found & renovated an 1800's fall-down Colonial house in this grand city of Merida (Yucatan) Mexico (project started 2009).
Today, this Merida House,"Corgis Bailando," (Corgis dancing) is our sanctuary (we're beginning a 2nd retirement, after running a B&B for 14 years on Mexico's Caribbean coast in Quintana Roo state). (see .Sindudavillas )
--This Merida house is the result of Robert's bright palette of architectural ideas, splashed liberally with tropical COLOR to lend mirth, merriment, comfort, contentment & well-being to all who dwell here!
--Within these walls too, as we savor our retirement, we enjoy our single Pembroke Welsh Corgi (Paris, 11 years), and though NOT cat-people, we have THREE (Mancha & his Mama Spatz, plus Blu-Lu), all whom we love.. The care and feeding of our animals are of first concern!
--During summer months (this year-- June & July 2019), we have set aside time for following-up the publishing/marketing of Robert’s novel (whose setting is Glacier National Park, Montana), and some loose ends (Seattle, WA). Thus, we post HERE to find an adventurous person/couple to fill our shoes as “Fur-Kid” minders, and to INFUSE your good spirit around our “oasis” in this fine City while we attend to business.
Because I am taking time to READ RESPONSES, I’ve set our beginning date to early June. Being flexible will allow us to find the BEST MATCH, which will give you a more rewarding experience.
--Our responsibilities (paid by us) include paying our two employees (who do not live with us, but come to work here; Jose, 3 days, Keren 1 day). So, Keren comes Wednesdays for change-of-linens & superb cleaning of your chosen space, and freshening the house! Then, there's Jose, our manager, who will work on projects 3 days/week (M-T-W).
Other items paid by us: a USA telephone (Magic Jack) (plug-in) on computer, cable television & Hi-speed internet (plus routers) for your 'contact' with the outside world; additionally, there will be some basic food supplies/staples in refrigerators for your consumption.
--House: ~Kitchen is bright and cheerful w/microwave, gas stove-oven, automatic purified water "tap," mixer, juicer, blender, all you need. ~Dining room/office area (as above, hi speed internet), good lighting, fun decor. ~LivingRoom is definitely 'colonial' with high ceilings and old-fashioned couches, the walls filled with myriad pieces of art. ~Master Bedroom: Comfy and inviting. A/C for night-time sleeping, as well as an industrial overhead fan. Big screen TV with Amazon and Netflix. ~Twin bed guest room: Private bath and Kitchenette.
Laundry & 2nd refrigerator. Excellent washing machine and good clothesline with Mexico's SUNSHINE to dry everything in 1/2 hour. We have a soft water system plus solar panels for a BOOST and pay-back to the electric company.
Enjoy the gardens (which might welcome some watering on Jose’s days off0; watch the LILIES GROW in the pond, and COOL YOUR BODY in the DELICIOUS/REFRESHING lap pool. You’ll find secure parking if you have a car. All within the PRIVATE courtyard behind tall walls!
--Neighborhood: We’re 3 blocks from a major supermarket (Chedraui), 3 blocks from myriad local, street-side, delicious restaurants (they're called "economicas" $50p a meal, less than $5 USD) serving breakfast, lunch, dinner; 3 blocks from Merida’s Centennial Zoo, 6 blocks from The Grand Plaza (Historic Centro Merida). There’s a good bus service & taxis & UBER (use maps which we have) to get to movie theaters with 1st-run, inexpensive US movies in English (Spanish subtitles). The heart of this city, "Centro," is filled w/treasures, Sunday artisans, Sunday dancing in the streets, restaurants, glorious Mexican silver, everything your heart may desire.
--See photos and tell us if you think you MIGHT FIT INTO OUR LIVES!
A most important attribute FOR YOU would be YOUR VALUE OF TIME LIVED in a foreign country, specifically Mexico or Central-South America! Your appreciation of a much more simple life among gentle people will GREATLY ENHANCE your experience-- having spent quality time in Mexico is a valuable asset! Of course, a little bit of Spanish would be BLISS!
Waiting to hear YOUR comments-- as soon as possible!
