I am seeking a mature couple who loves animals and real life adventures. Come and thrill to the magic of my very authentic 7 acre organic permaculture farm 12 miles south of the famous Vilcabamba in the Southern Andes of Ecuador. This is an experience of authentic Ecuadorian small pueblo farm life and yet you are only a half hour by bus/taxi from the famous town of Vilcabamba where you will find hundreds of English speaking expats and lots of fun. I have a rustic but fairly comfortable small renovated rammed earth cottage with all the usual simple amenities including internet. There's a basic outdoor kitchen to enjoy the views while preparing meals. I have two large dogs and two medium sized dogs (all healthy rescues and with their individual needs) , and a flock of chickens who are raised for eggs. There is also a pastured and adorable small donkey. The farm spans a clean and drinkable small river flowing down from the cloud forest (that is the only available water and it is some of the cleanest water on the planet but you must be okay with drinking this natural water--there is no city water here). The farm is an 8 minute walk from an authentic Ecuadorian village (no road, only a trail) where you can obtain basic food stuffs and other necessities. The farm sitters will be responsible for the care of the animals as well as the garden and yard. You are welcome to eat the produce of the garden and the orchards, as well as the fresh free range eggs. Raw milk and cheese is available in town and grass fed beef and chicken in Vilcabamba. I need a fit, hardy and healthy non-smoking single or couple who enjoy being physical and who will want to spend most of their time on the farm with the animals and enjoying the nature, with occasional visits to Vilcabamba for a bit of socializing and buying supplies.
The farm is right on a clean river, shallow but good for splashing, and there are plenty of hiking trails just outside your door. If you have any level of Spanish and feel comfortable being the only foreigners in the area that will help a lot. No English at all is spoken in this village but you will find hundreds of English speaking expats in Vilcabamba. You will receive a free 90-day visa on arrival at the airport and will need to extend that visa for another 90-days. The cost will be $128. for the visa extension. No longer will you need proof of health insurance. That law is off the books.
My sitters will maintain my simple rustic home and be kind and attentive to my four dogs, all street mutts, a flock of egg-laying hens and one adorable donkey. A small amount of weedwacking of the yard and garden will keep the open areas clear and usable. The remainder of the 7 acres will be mostly cared for by a local couple. More details will be sent after contact to let you know what is needed for the water supply and the care of the animals.
My little 7 acre farm is situated on a clean, clear river in the Andes at 7,200 feet. The weather is called "Eternal Spring" and stays usually mild year around. I am located up a flat path along the river, 8 minutes walk from a small authentic pueblo where no one speaks English but all have big hearts. 1/2 hour away is the famous town of Vilcabamba, there for your socializing and shopping pleasure. I have pretty good internet service and the simple amenities of a rustic home.
My sitters need to commit to the full 4 months on the property. You will be somewhat isolated here, especially if your Spanish is basic. You need to enjoy silence, rushing stream and bird song, have time for the animals and be willing to care for the house and garden if you want one, checking daily for problems on the land and monitoring the water system. You will be the only foreigners in this area and will need to maintain a warm and friendly relationship with the local people here. If you are interested, you can also find volunteer possibilities in our little pueblo teaching English, joining sports activities, Spanish lessons...
