Our farmlet manages to be in the middle of Urenui whilst being on the very edge with views of the sea, river, golf course and countryside.
The village has a garage, 4 square, chip shop, library, hairdresser beautician, golf course, café, beach, and pub. It is 25 minutes drive away from New Plymouth, half that from Waitara.
"Honey" our dog fully lives up to her name and will soon train you to throw pine cones for her. "Tilly" the cat is new and young, and affectionate, she manages to combine timidity and exuberance remarkably well.
The farmlet is easy care with small paddocks and all are watered. Hay will have to be fed out each day to the 3 cattle, 8 goats and the two ponies. The cattle are miniature and handle easily, the two cows are due to calve well after we return and the bull is noted for bluster and abject cowardice. The 8 goats are all getting on in years and will follow anywhere if food is offered. The 2 ponies are also no longer young and one is very small.
The disadvantages with the views from the house is that half of the land is at the base of a hill that seems steeper each year (perhaps it is my own advanced years that causes that). This means that the hill has to be negotiated each day to feed out. There is a good track and two hay sheds one at the top and the other at the bottom, it cuts down on some of the effort.
The house is not young but comfortable, with gas fired heating, and a heat pump. It is secluded, only yards away from the centre of the village but with open views.
