I'm traveling to see family and friends in WA state in August. I will be gone just over 2 weeks, Aug 15 until the 31st.
During this time I need someone who will stay in my home, water my garden and just be generally responsible. I have a breeder rescue miniature poodle, Frankie, who spent 5 year in a puppy mill. He needs someone with him who is patient and very attentive to his needs and who will be at home most of the time. He has been with me for over a year, is now 6 years old, but is still skittish and fearful of many things. He is happiest at home in his comfort zone.
I live in a small village, Chamisal, NM, in the mountains (elevation 7600 ft) on the scenic High Road to Taos. My house is an old adobe, cozy and beautiful. There is a separate art studio which you would be free to use. It is a small house with only one bedroom although a variety of other sleeping possibilities. It is not, however, a good place for a family with children. One or two people is the limit to be comfortable. The house has high speed internet, local and long distance land line, cell reception, and propane for cooking and hot water. I have excellent friends and neighbors who will help in emergencies.
The local area is extremely quiet and scenic, loaded with art and artists. There will several art studio tours in the fall but this is too early for most. However, artists' galleries will be open all up and down the High Road and many artists studios welcome visitors all year. Unfortunatley the close-by Pueblo Indian Feast Days are not within this time frame, but the world famous Indian Market in Santa Fe occurs on the 18th and 19th. There is plenty of nearby hiking, natural hot springs and other outdoor activity including the close-by Santa Barbara Wilderness.
Taos has the closest shopping and is a 40 minute drive and Santa Fe is just over an hour away. Both are easy day trip spots with galleries, museums, good food and shopping. The only local shopping is Family Dollar and a small Mom and Pop store just up the road. The Picuris Pueblo with their buffalo herd is also just up the road.
I would like to see references and will want to chat via face-time or at least once. I will trade housing and utilities for house and pet care. Please have your own vehicle as I will need mine. Alternately, we might be able to make other arrangements. Please look at the photos and ask me questions if you think you might be interested in staying here for the time period. Thanks, Donna
